Igknitsar is the result of experimenting with traditional and digital technique, a large format illustration made for both print and screens, that blends traditional watercolor with pixel-art and other digital techniques.
Making of
The main element, the tree was painted in watercolor over canson 300gsm paper and scanned at 600dpi, then modified digitally with Photoshop to remove the paper texture and enhance the colors. The rest of the painting was drawn digitally with various techniques. For the buildings, I drew them pixel by pixel using a software called Aseprite. For the background and the glow, i used David Revoy's soft brushes in Krita. I also traced both the tree and the buildings with a digital ink brush and colored it using it as a mask over a color layer.
I also made some experiments with different styles. They are not as refined as the original one, but interesting nontheless.
